The Maternal Infant Health Program (MIHP) is a home visiting program for pregnant women and infants with medical insurance in Michigan. Our registered nurses and social workers provide care coordination and health education to promote healthy pregnancies, good birth outcomes, and healthy infants. We employ a registered dietitian who works with our families, and we also collaborate with local Infant mental health specialists. Supportive services are provided to pregnant women and families of infants up to 1 year of age.
A Certified Nurse-Midwife is an advanced practice registered nurse who provides comprehensive healthcare to women throughout the lifespan. Certified Nurse-Midwives are skilled healthcare professionals who practice in a wide variety of clinical settings, and utilize evidence-based knowledge to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients, and to provide referrals to a specialist if needed. They have expertise in supporting women to maintain a healthy pregnancy. They also provide primary care and routine gynecological care, including reproductive health visits, annual wellness exams, and peri-/post-menopausal care.
The word “Midwife” means “with woman.” The Muskegon Family Care Certified Nurse-Midwives are committed to providing holistic, compassionate, individualized care to help women maintain their physical, mental, and emotional health. We seek to provide care to our patients with integrity, and to build relationships where women trust that they are being listened to.
