Pediatric Care:
Building a Healthy Foundation
Growing Healthy
The Pediatric Department at Muskegon Family Care is committed to providing compassionate, comprehensive healthcare for children in the Muskegon community. The word pediatric means “healer of children,” and this philosophy guides the department’s mission to nurture the health, development, and wellbeing of every child it serves.
The department is led by Aurora Wernette, DNP. Also, Ashlyn Sovereen, MD, will join the team in the summer of 2026 to deliver patient-centered care, ranging from newborns to 17 years of age. Their approach focuses on treating illness, promoting prevention, healthy development, and family education.
Primary Pediatric Healthcare services include:
Serving newborns to age 17
The goal is to track a child’s growth from infancy through adolescence. During visits, providers evaluate physical health, emotional wellbeing, developmental milestones, nutrition, and behavioral health. Also, the team offers guidance to parents and caregivers on topics like safety, nutrition, school readiness, and adolescent health.
The Pediatric Department emphasizes preventive care, early detection of health concerns, and ongoing support for families. By building strong relationships with patients and caregivers, the team works to ensure that children receive consistent, high-quality care as they grow.
Through dedication and clinical expertise the pediatric team strives to support healthy beginnings, healthy childhoods, and an ongoing foundation.
